Tephra.
His boat has crashed and little horned dudes have found him washed up on the shore.
They're more afraid of him than he is of them.

I think this is just a stage 1 version of a future piece.

Black Pencil on Bristol board. Digital colours.

they're not! :3 They wouldn't be afraid of him if they had malicious intent :3

I really enjoy this piece. The colors are really interesting, and the scene is dynamic. Only issue is I had trouble seeing where the face was (on the creature who washed up on the shore). I think it might be clearer if his eyes were a bit darker colored? This also made me notice that you don't tend to fully saturate with black. Is that a choice? I'd love to see what would happen if you put some real, dark black in some of these - I think it might be interesting. But I can also see that the sort of subdued color-scale is part of your style, and I like that as well. :)

Thanks so much for the comments! Hmm yeah I can what you mean - I must be honest I didn't have very long to spend on this piece so I had actually intended on the making the whole piece more vibrant and colourful, but I completely ran out of time. There should be more pieces in this series though so I'm hoping to develop and improve with each one really.

And you're correct - I tend to avoid fully saturated black, it is indeed by choice. I will definitely try it out though and see if I can get some results from greater contrast :)

Thanks again for looking and commenting! really glad you like it!

No problem! I'm glad my comment was useful, and I love looking at your works (be assured, even if I don't comment, I do tend to look at them). Best of luck moving forward :)
